Penile Implant

A penile implant is a surgical procedure that places a pump in the penis to create an erection. It is done as an outpatient (go home the same day) procedure, under anesthesia usually done under an hour. Once healed, you can use it as much as you want and never have to take (or pay for!) another pill or injection or carry devices with you when you want to have sex. It becomes part of your body and is always on demand. 

There are 2 main types of implants- Inflatable and malleable.

Inflatable is the most common and most like a real erection. It inflates and deflates so that when erect, it is hard and when flaccid, it is soft and not bulging through your pants.

Malleable is easier to place surgical and easier recovery. They are 2 bendable rods that give a good erection; however, they do not get soft. After sex, you would bend them downward so that it is not in the way. It works great, but just not a “natural” feeling as an inflatable implant. These are usually used in situations where a patient is not a good candidate or has had previous issues with an inflatable implant.
